BEFORE YOU RIDE...

Frequently Asked

Questions

Everything you need to know before your first polo experience. From what to wear and what’s included to riding experience and safety, we’ve answered the questions we hear most often from new players.

Do I need to know how to ride a horse?

No! Many people learn to play polo and ride at the same time, though previous riding experience is certainly a plus. We start from the very beginning, building your confidence in the saddle before graduating to hitting and riding at speed

What is the Polo Experience?

This is our entry point for newcomers, running Wednesdays and Fridays at 5:30 PM.

For $200 per person you will learn the game, swing a mallet, ride a carefully matched horse, and play your first real chukker alongside club members.

No experience needed — just bring jeans and a boot with a heel.

Is there an age limit to participate?

Polo school is open to anyone aged 12 and up.

How much do individual lessons cost?

Polo Experience: $200 per person, Wednesdays and Fridays at 5:30 PM.

Polo School: $200, Wednesdays and Fridays at 6:30 PM — a group stick and ball session plus one chukker. Extra chukkers $100 each.

Private Lessons: $200 per session.

10-Pack: $1,500 for any ten lessons or polo-school sessions.

On top of your lesson or session fee, a greens fee goes to the Spokane Polo Club for use of the grounds. Students choose either a $500 one-time season membership or $50 per session — whichever fits how often you plan to play.

Just submit the form with your details. We will then reach out to you and walk you through everything.

Do I need to own my own horse?

Not at all. Spokane Polo School has 13 trained school horses ready for students. We handle the horses and the tack; you just show up and play.

What gear do I need to bring?

For your first sessions, you should wear:

• Jeans or riding pants.

• Close-toed boots with a heel.

• A riding helmet (we have loaner helmets available if needed).

Where is the school located?

We are located at the Spokane Polo Club in Airway Heights, which has been a home for polo in the Inland Northwest since the 1960s.
